STYLE A-JANE: COLOUR WHEEL

Colour block your way to a stylish outfit. By Mughni Che Din

Colour-blocking has been around since the Eighties; however, the trend was a huge hit circa 2011 and is making a triumphant comeback with a striking twist. Think athleisure silhouettes, logomania, tie-dyes in throwback ‘90s shapes and silhouettes.

The main premise of colour-blocking is the combination of contrasting colours from the colour wheel. In 2021, it is about keeping your palette restrained to three to four colours— as seen on the runways and streets during fashion week — and focusing on the graphic combination of desired hues.

To make this trend work IRL, the trick is to not over think the process and have fun with it! Stick to one colour in different tones to create a playful look that complements your personal style!
